Welcome back! This week should be easier as we both get used to this way of working.

There is a BrainPop about the Coronavirus, if you want to watch it.

 

Assignment 1

Finish making your Prop, and answer questions 8 onwards on the Google Drive document,

This is due by Wednesday at 4 pm.

You can log in to an online chat meeting if you want to talk
to me and whoever else logs in, between 10:30 and 11:30 am on Thursday.

Introduction to Gears.

It's really hard to do a gears unit without gears, but we will try.

Part 1

Let's start with the basics.

How do we use gears on a robot? Look at the power point in the link.

Let's also look at this information about LEGO Gears.

Watch this video about how gears work together. (it's the first 5 minutes of this longer video.)

Now go through this powerpoint about using LEGO Gears, Don't worry too much about gear ratios at this point.

Remember this.

Go to your Google Drive, find 'Introduction to Gears' in 'Shared with me' and answer the questions. Due Friday 10th

Go through this Gear Ratio Power Point.

Watch this video - pay attention to the comments about 'Speed multiplier' and 'Torque multiplier'.

Speed multiplier means that the gear train is gearing up, so the robot moves faster.

Torque multiplier means that the gear train is gearing down, so the robot has more torque (strength).

This page has more information about compound gear trains.

 

Go to your SCHOOL Google drive, and do the Gear Ratio assignment you'll find in 'Shared with me'.

Welcome to Seminole County's Distance learning! I do hope that you are all keeping well.

The main difference in distance learning will be that I will post the entire week's work on a Monday, and
that week's work will all be due before Friday 3 pm that same week.

Let's have a virtual Monday Meeting - tell me what you've been doing over the last two weeks.

Now, to work:

Assignment 1:

Collaborative story.

Add one sentence to the story to continue it. Don't think about it, do it as quickly as possible.
This is an improv assignment.

Due Tuesday 4 pm

 

Assignment 2:

You will find a Google Vocab folder in your Google drive. Do the three terms below on the first
three pages of the folder. This video explains how you do it.

I realized that I did not give you enough time for the prop to be made.

Your task this week is to complete Questions 1-7 on the Engineering Design Process
worksheet in Drive. This is due on Friday at 3 pm.

The prop will be due at the end of next week. Look at the props
in this video.
