While we wait for everyone to arrive, let's go to the cafeteria
for the Dance Party!
1. Let's Build a Robot - only add the color sensor, no other sensors or attachments.
2. How can we make it move?
- Video 1 - how to program the robot to go forward
-
Your robot is a hungry panther.
Program it to start from its resting spot under a tree, and to move forward until it moves over
the wild turkey, and stops. This means it is eating the turkey.
Sadly, the panther is still hungry, so must go on moving forward to find more food.
It should stop before it reaches the poisonous mushroom.
2. Now, learn to turn.
Notice that the different turns take up different amounts of space.
You can program the robot to copy the blue angle.
3. Make and Eat a Robot Snack
You will make a robot from a Rice Krispies Treat Body, with a Marshmallow head, either pretzel arms and legs or cookie wheels, and a face or control buttons
made of mini M&Ms. You will stick this all together with icing.
Once you have eaten this, and cleaned up, you will learn the Programming Song.
4. How does the robot see the world?
Look at the robot sensors - touch, light, sound and obstacle detector.
We can learn to stop at a black line.
The instructions are:
- Move forward (make sure you don't have any rotations programmed)
- Wait until the sensor sees black
- Stop
5. Build an attachment to sweep things up.
You'll need this for the challenges.
Something like this:
5. Next, you can use what you learned on the Challenge Mat.
The challenges are:
....................1. Move the 'food' into the circle.
....................2. Sweep up the loose LEGO blocks and move them
into the black 'trash can'.
....................3. Take the dog for a walk all around the mat.
....................4. If you can learn a line follow - take the dog for a walk
along the black line.
