TROOP 899
Welcome to a new year of Girl Scouting! Th=
is
will be an exciting year for us as we plan to complete
our<=
span
style=3D'font-size:12.0pt'> Bronze Award. (Click here=
to
find out more about the GS awards.)
Our Bronze award date is set for
Saturday, January 15th, and we need to get a venue. Most of the girls have =
to
investigate a venue, ie find out whether it is
available, suitable, and how much it will cost. The venues suggested were: =
Annunciation - Picarelli
<=
span
class=3DSpellE>Riverbend Park -
R=
ock
Lake Gymnasium – Pereira and Smith
L=
ake
Brantley High
<=
span
class=3DSpellE>Westmonte Park - Maier
Rachel's piano teacher's church - Baker
<=
span
class=3DSpellE>Wekiva Elementary cafeteria – Israelson
It is also highly possible that we may be ab=
le
to use classrooms and the pavilion at Sweetwater Episcopal Academy, so I wi=
ll ask Rebmann
to investigate this. The information the girls will need at hand when they =
make
their enquiries is as follows:
W=
hat
- Brownie Safety Day
W=
hen
- Saturday January 15, 2005
W=
hat
time - 8 am - 2 pm ( to allow for set-up and cle=
anup,
the brownies will be there from 9 - 1)
H=
ow
many - up to 150
Questions they need to ask if the reponse is
positive:
&n=
bsp;
How much will it cost us?
&n=
bsp;
Can we put up decorations?
&n=
bsp;
Does the site provide tables and chairs?
&n=
bsp;
Can we have food?
&n=
bsp;
Any other restrictions?
If the girls could do this before the end of=
the
week, it would be great, as they have to make a flyer for the event this
Friday, as well as decide how much it is going to cost, as I should really
present it to the leader meeting on Monday.
T=
he
activities they have decided on are as follows. There will be 4 stations, w=
ith
2 activities at each station.
&n=
bsp;
1. a) basic First Aid
&n=
bsp;
b) Poisonous plants
&n=
bsp;
2. a) Food safety (including snack)
&nb=
sp;
b) Kitchen safety
&nb=
sp;
3. a) Stage make-up
&n=
bsp;
b) Teach a dance
&n=
bsp;
4. a) Who wants to be a millionaire?
&n=
bsp;
b) Skits
I apologize for the lack of communication ov=
er
the past 2 weeks, but it was the combination of losing all my computer stuf=
f (I
have some backup, we just haven't had time to get at it yet) and what has
proved an exhausting new job.
Please remember that if the girls miss the
meetings, they may have to make up the time in order to receive the Bronze
award.
I don’t have the Rebmann, Carlson and Picarelli=
span>
emails, so if you read this please send me an email.
Calendar
The
dues for this year will again be $20 - this covers most of the badges and
patches the girls earn. Remember that we now have a troop account so checks
should be made out to 'Troop 899'.
I also need a
parent to be present at every meeting.
Once our schedule is firmed up, I will
have=
a sign-up sheet at meetings, but right now I wo=
uld
appreciate a volunteer for the next meeting on
Friday 1st.
