The Turing Test Alan M. Turing was a British scientist who was very involved in code-breaking activities during World War II. He was one of the fathers of computing. He was interested in the problem of whether machines (robots) could be considered intelligent, and proposed the Turing Test: "a human judge has an on-line conversation with two others, one a human and the other a machine; if the judge can't tell which is which, then the machine is said to pass the test. It is assumed that both the humans and the machine try to appear human. " Here is a video about the Turing Test. From http://www.fil.ion.ucl.ac.uk/~asaygin/tt/ttest.html In the meantime, look at this robot - although this is quite an old video, she is really good at behaving in a human way. So after all this, what is Artificial Intelligence? Here is a technical description ! Summarize the main points of this description on your Word document, and save it to EETT2 - Pereira - AI 2013- class color - A.I. notes as ainotesyourname |
